What Dorey means
डोरे
Dore , meaning threads
Dorey comes from a Hindi word that means threads. Thread is what holds a garment together, and what carries every bit of zari and kadhai.
The name is a reminder that every piece is built one thread at a time, for one woman.
Why Dorey exists
To be written by Babita Sharma
[PLACEHOLDER - Babita Sharma's words] Two or three short paragraphs in her own voice: what she saw missing, when she first started making clothes for others, and what she wants a customer to feel on the day she wears a Dorey piece.
How each piece is made
Step 1:
A conversation first
We start with your occasion, the colours you like and how you want to feel in it.
Step 2:
Fabric and design
We suggest fabric and work that suit the occasion and your budget, with photos so you can see them.
Step 3:
Cut to your measurements
Your piece is cut to your own measurements, not a standard size.
Step 4:
Work and finishing
Zari, gota or kadhai is added, then every seam and hem is finished and checked.

In her words
I don't sew for a size. I sew for a person, and every thread has to earn its place.
